Oakland artists are parents too!

There are no shortage of examples of artistic parents who are working to keep Oakland creative. Here are just a few examples: 

• Oakland’s Innosanto Nagara has written and illustrated some of the best children’s books available for today’s complicated times, including  A is for Activist and Counting on Community.

• Jennifer Anderson is the Oakland parent and designer behind the popular Oaklandish/Fairyland re-branding 
  
  
• Tommy Wong is an Oakland parent and artist working to keep Oakland Chinatown creative. He just helped to open a new pop up, the E14 Gallery in Old Oakland. ​

• ​Sue Mark is an Oakland mother and part of "marksearch," a cultural-research team that develops interactive public art opportunities allowing people to share personal histories for empowerment and preservation in Oakland and beyond.

• Gina Dominguez, a mosaic artist who has decorated the planters in Montclair village works out of her studio home where she lives with her family. ​

• Zion I and MC Zumbi’s rap “Tech Money” rap was filmed as he was packing and was moving his young family out of Oakland and to San Leandro as the cameras rolled.
